Why do we love Cinco de Mayo?
Well that is an easy question to answer because we love mayonnaise, which is often shortened to mayo!
Contrary to belief, Cinco de Mayo is not Mexico’s Independence Day. May 5th, 1862 is the day the Mexican army claimed victory of the French forces of Napoleon III in the Battle of Puebla. The French had come to collect war debt money owed to Europe from Mexico, but they were ultimately defeated.
Today Americans celebrate this day while enjoying Mexican food, such as chips and salsa, tacos, and margaritas followed by a slice of tres leche cake or flan. Our Chef will be hard at work developing a custom salsa for one of our QSR customers, so I am sure our Test Kitchen will be a favorite place to visit on May 5th, 2017.
Happy Cinco de Mayo to you and your family!
