On October 3rd, 2016, MFP employees provided a home cooked meal to the families at Ronald McDonald House near the Loyola University Medical Center.
Cooking meals for RMHC families is a favorite volunteer opportunity for the Mullins Family and our employees. We are able to cook meals on a regular basis because our manufacturing facility is a short drive to the campus. We love to switch up our menu each time to provide nice, hot comfort foods for families that have just spent a long day at the hospital with their child. We have been told that some of the favorite meals we have prepared are ribs, slathered in one of our many custom BBQ sauces, and chicken served with a variety of our dipping sauces. Chips and salsa are always a must have item, as well as a healthy salad with one of our homemade salad dressings. No meal would be complete without a huge tray of desserts.
Not everyone is a cook at MFP, but they still want to contribute to RMHC, so we provide pop tab collection containers in all of our lunch rooms. We drop off the pop tabs at the Loyola house, which are recycled and the money generated goes back to the house. Every little bit helps to ease the financial burden many of these families face due to long hospital stays.
Ronald McDonald House is a very special place and it truly is a “home-away-from-home”.
